Scottish education
Scottish education is known for its distinct structure, which includes primary, secondary, and higher education. Children typically start primary school at age five and attend for seven years. After primary school, they move to secondary school, which lasts for four to six years, culminating in the Scottish Qualifications Authority exams, known as National 5 and Higher qualifications.
Higher education in Scotland is also unique, with universities offering four-year undergraduate degrees, unlike the three-year programs common in other parts of the UK. Notable institutions include the University of Edinburgh and the University of Glasgow, which are renowned for their research and academic excellence.
