Scottish Police Authority
The Scottish Police Authority (SPA) is an independent body responsible for overseeing the Police Service of Scotland. Established in 2013, its main role is to ensure that the police operate effectively and efficiently while maintaining public confidence. The SPA sets strategic priorities and allocates funding to support police operations across Scotland.
The authority is governed by a board, which includes members appointed by the Scottish Government. The SPA also holds the Chief Constable accountable for the performance of the police service, ensuring transparency and accountability in policing matters.
