Schneider Family Book Award
The Schneider Family Book Award is an annual award that recognizes outstanding children's books that portray the experiences of individuals with disabilities. Established in 2004, the award aims to promote awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by people with disabilities through literature.
The award is divided into three categories: books for children, middle school readers, and young adults. Each category highlights stories that reflect the diverse experiences of those with disabilities, encouraging empathy and inclusion among young readers. The award is presented by the American Library Association during its annual conference.
