Scheat is a red giant star located in the constellation of Pegasus. It is known as Beta Pegasi and is approximately 196 light-years away from Earth. Scheat has a spectral type of M2, indicating it is cooler than our Sun and has expanded significantly as it aged.
This star is notable for its brightness, ranking as the 2nd brightest star in Pegasus. Scheat has a magnitude of about 2.24, making it easily visible to the naked eye. Its size is roughly 1,000 times that of the Sun, and it is in the later stages of stellar evolution, eventually leading to its transformation into a supernova.
