Scarab
A scarab is a type of beetle belonging to the family Scarabaeidae, known for its distinctive rounded shape and shiny exoskeleton. These insects are often found in various habitats, including forests, grasslands, and deserts. Scarabs play a crucial role in the ecosystem by decomposing organic matter and recycling nutrients back into the soil.
In ancient Egypt, scarabs were considered sacred and symbolized rebirth and transformation. The scarab beetle, particularly the species Scarabaeus sacer, was associated with the sun god Ra and was often depicted in Egyptian art and jewelry. Scarabs were also used as amulets for protection and good fortune.
