Scab (Worker)
A "scab" is a term used to describe a worker who continues to work or takes the place of striking workers during a labor dispute. This practice often occurs when employees are protesting for better wages, working conditions, or other rights. Scabs can undermine the efforts of the striking workers by providing the employer with a workforce to maintain operations.
The use of scabs can lead to tension between workers and can create divisions within labor unions. Many unions discourage the hiring of scabs, as it can weaken their bargaining power and solidarity. The term is often viewed negatively, reflecting the conflict between labor and management during strikes.
