Saturn I
Saturn I was an early American rocket developed by NASA in the 1960s. It served as a launch vehicle for the Apollo program, primarily used to test the spacecraft and systems that would eventually take astronauts to the Moon. The rocket was designed to be a reliable and powerful platform for various missions.
The first successful launch of Saturn I occurred on October 27, 1961. It was a two-stage rocket, standing about 75 meters tall, and was powered by eight engines in its first stage. This rocket played a crucial role in paving the way for future missions, including the more powerful Saturn V.
