Satsuma Domain
The Satsuma Domain was a feudal domain in Japan during the Edo period, located in what is now Kagoshima Prefecture. It was ruled by the Shimazu clan, one of the most powerful samurai families. The domain was known for its wealth, agricultural production, and military strength, playing a significant role in the political landscape of Japan.
Satsuma was also notable for its involvement in the Meiji Restoration, a movement that led to the modernization of Japan. The domain contributed to the overthrow of the Tokugawa shogunate and the establishment of a new government, influencing Japan's transition from feudalism to a more centralized state.
