Satmar Hasidim
Satmar Hasidim is a sect of Hasidic Judaism founded in the early 20th century by Rabbi Joel Teitelbaum in the town of Satu Mare, Romania. Known for their strict adherence to Jewish law and customs, they emphasize community life, religious study, and the importance of maintaining traditional practices.
The Satmar community is particularly noted for its opposition to Zionism, believing that the establishment of a Jewish state should only occur with the arrival of the Messiah. Today, Satmar Hasidim are primarily found in the United States, particularly in Brooklyn, New York, and in parts of Israel.
