The Sardar Sarovar Dam is a large concrete gravity dam located on the Narmada River in the state of Gujarat, India. Completed in 2017, it is part of the Narmada Valley Project, which aims to provide irrigation, drinking water, and hydroelectric power to the region. The dam stands 163 meters tall and creates a reservoir that extends over 214 square kilometers.
The dam plays a crucial role in water management for several states, including Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. It is designed to support agriculture by supplying water to arid areas and generating approximately 1,450 megawatts of electricity through its hydroelectric power stations.
