Sarcomas
Sarcomas are a type of cancer that originates in connective tissues, such as bones, muscles, fat, and cartilage. They are relatively rare compared to other cancers, accounting for about 1% of all adult cancers. Sarcomas can occur in various forms, including osteosarcoma (bone cancer) and liposarcoma (fat tissue cancer), and can develop in any part of the body.
There are two main categories of sarcomas: soft tissue sarcomas and bone sarcomas. Soft tissue sarcomas arise from tissues like muscle and fat, while bone sarcomas specifically affect the bones. Treatment options often include surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy, depending on the type and stage of the sarcoma.
