Sap
Sap is a fluid that circulates through the vascular system of plants, primarily composed of water, sugars, and nutrients. It plays a crucial role in transporting essential substances from the leaves, where photosynthesis occurs, to other parts of the plant, such as roots and stems. This process helps maintain the plant's health and growth.
There are two main types of sap: xylem sap, which carries water and minerals from the roots to the leaves, and phloem sap, which transports sugars and other organic compounds throughout the plant. The collection of sap is also important in producing products like maple syrup.
