Samad Vurgun
Samad Vurgun was a prominent Azerbaijani poet and playwright, born on March 21, 1906, in the village of Goychay. He is celebrated for his contributions to Azerbaijani literature, particularly during the Soviet era, and is known for his ability to blend traditional themes with modernist styles.
Vurgun's works often reflect the struggles and aspirations of the Azerbaijani people. He served as a member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and received numerous awards for his literary achievements, including the prestigious State Prize of the Azerbaijan SSR. He passed away on January 27, 1956.
