Salvatore Giuliano
Salvatore Giuliano was an Italian bandit and folk hero born in 1922 in Sicily. He became notorious in the post-World War II era for his involvement in organized crime and his resistance against the Italian government. Giuliano was known for his charisma and ability to evade capture, which earned him a significant following among the local population.
His criminal activities included robbery, smuggling, and political violence, particularly in the context of the Sicilian independence movement. Giuliano's life came to a violent end in 1950 when he was killed by police, but he remains a controversial figure in Italian history and Sicilian folklore.
