Salt Ponds
Salt ponds are shallow bodies of water where seawater is evaporated to produce salt. These ponds are often found in coastal areas and are typically created by humans for salt production. The evaporation process occurs naturally through sunlight and wind, concentrating the salt in the remaining water.
In addition to salt production, salt ponds can provide important habitats for wildlife, particularly migratory birds. The unique ecosystems formed in these areas support various species and contribute to biodiversity. Salt ponds are also studied for their ecological significance and can play a role in local economies through salt harvesting and tourism.
