Salome Zourabichvili's Presidency
Salome Zourabichvili became the President of Georgia in December 2018, marking a significant milestone as the first woman to hold this position in the country. She was elected as an independent candidate, having previously served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Her presidency focuses on strengthening Georgia's ties with the European Union and NATO.
During her term, Zourabichvili has emphasized the importance of democratic reforms and national unity. She has also addressed issues such as economic development and regional security, particularly in relation to the ongoing tensions with Russia over the breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
