Salkantay Trek
The Salkantay Trek is a popular hiking route in Peru that leads to the ancient Inca city of Machu Picchu. Spanning approximately 74 kilometers (46 miles), the trek typically takes five days to complete. Hikers experience diverse landscapes, including snow-capped mountains, lush valleys, and high-altitude lakes.
The trek is named after Salkantay, one of the highest peaks in the Andes, standing at 6,271 meters (20,574 feet). It offers an alternative to the more crowded Inca Trail, allowing trekkers to enjoy stunning views and unique cultural experiences along the way.
