Salchow jump
The Salchow jump is a figure skating jump that is performed from a backward outside edge. It is an edge jump, meaning it does not require a toe pick for takeoff. Skaters typically take off from their left foot and land on their right foot, completing one or more rotations in the air.
Named after Ulrich Salchow, a Swedish figure skater who first performed it in 1909, the Salchow is considered one of the fundamental jumps in figure skating. It is often included in competitive routines and is valued for its elegance and technical difficulty.
