Saint Toribio Romo
Saint Toribio Romo was a Mexican priest and martyr, born on February 15, 1900, in the state of Jalisco. He is known for his dedication to his faith and his work during the turbulent times of the Cristero War, a conflict between the Mexican government and those who opposed its anti-Catholic policies. Toribio was executed on February 25, 1928, for his refusal to abandon his religious duties.
He was canonized by Pope John Paul II on May 21, 2000, as part of a group of martyrs who died for their faith during the same period. Saint Toribio is celebrated for his commitment to the Catholic Church and is recognized as a symbol of religious freedom in Mexico.
