Saint Radegund
Saint Radegund was a 6th-century princess and the founder of the monastery at Poitiers, France. Born into a royal family, she was married to King Clotaire I but chose to leave her husband to dedicate her life to God. After her escape, she established a monastic community that became known for its piety and commitment to the religious life.
Radegund is venerated as a saint in both the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church. Her feast day is celebrated on August 13. She is often depicted in art with symbols of her monastic life, reflecting her dedication to faith and service.
