Saint Philip of Jesus
Saint Philip of Jesus was a Mexican saint and martyr, born in 1556 in Mexico City. He became a member of the Order of the Friars Minor and was known for his deep faith and commitment to spreading Christianity.
In 1597, Philip was captured by Japanese authorities during a time of persecution against Christians. He was executed in Nagasaki, Japan, and is remembered for his bravery and dedication to his beliefs. Saint Philip of Jesus was canonized by Pope Pius IX in 1862 and is celebrated as the patron saint of Mexico City.
