Saint Ninian
Saint Ninian was a Christian missionary and the first known saint in Scotland. He is believed to have lived during the 4th or 5th century and is credited with spreading Christianity among the Picts, a group of Celtic tribes in northern Britain. Ninian established a church at Whithorn, which became a significant center for early Christianity in the region.
Ninian is often depicted as a figure of peace and reconciliation, bridging the gap between pagan beliefs and the new Christian faith. His legacy is celebrated in various places, and he is recognized as the patron saint of Galloway. His feast day is observed on September 16.
