Saint Martin de Porres

Martin was of mixed heritage, with a Spanish father and a freed African slave mother, which influenced his commitment to social justice and equality.
He became famous for his miraculous abilities, including healing the sick and caring for animals. Saint Martin is often depicted with a broom, symbolizing his humility and service. He was canonized by Pope John XXIII in 1962 and is the patron saint of social justice and mixed-race people.
