Saint Juan Diego
Saint Juan Diego was a 16th-century indigenous man from Mexico, known for his role in the apparition of the Virgin Mary, known as Our Lady of Guadalupe. He was born in 1474 and lived in the area that is now Mexico City.
In December 1531, Juan Diego reported seeing a vision of the Virgin Mary on the hill of Tepeyac. She asked him to build a church in her honor. After several encounters, he presented roses as proof of her message, leading to the establishment of the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a significant pilgrimage site.
