Saint John of the Ladder
Saint John of the Ladder, also known as Saint John Climacus, was a 7th-century Christian monk and ascetic. He is best known for his spiritual work titled "The Ladder of Divine Ascent," which outlines a path of spiritual growth and moral development. This text is highly regarded in the Eastern Orthodox Church and is often read during the Great Lent.
In his writings, Saint John describes a ladder with thirty rungs, each representing a step toward achieving a closer relationship with God. His teachings emphasize virtues such as humility, repentance, and love, guiding believers in their spiritual journey. Saint John is commemorated on the fourth Sunday of Lent in the Orthodox tradition.
