Saint John of Matha
Saint John of Matha was a Christian priest born in 1160 in Provence, France. He is best known for founding the Order of the Most Holy Trinity, also known as the Trinitarians, in 1198. This religious order focused on the redemption of Christian captives from Muslim territories during the Crusades.
John of Matha dedicated his life to helping those in need and promoting peace. He is often depicted with a white habit and a blue and red cross, symbolizing his mission. He was canonized as a saint by Pope Gregory XIII in 1585, and his feast day is celebrated on January 17.
