Saint Etheldreda
Saint Etheldreda, also known as Saint Audrey, was an Anglo-Saxon princess born around 630 AD in East Anglia. She is best known for founding the monastery at Ely in Cambridgeshire, where she served as its first abbess. Etheldreda is celebrated for her piety and commitment to a life of chastity, even after two marriages.
Etheldreda's feast day is observed on October 23rd, and she is recognized as the patron saint of Ely and difficult childbirth. Her legacy continues to inspire many, and her life is often associated with themes of devotion and spiritual leadership in early medieval England.
