Saint Edmund
Saint Edmund was a 9th-century king of East Anglia, known for his strong Christian faith and leadership. He is often celebrated for his resistance against Viking invasions, particularly during the reign of King Ivar the Boneless. Edmund was captured by the Vikings and, according to legend, was martyred for refusing to renounce his faith.
He became the patron saint of England and is venerated in various Christian traditions. His feast day is observed on November 20. Many churches and places are named after him, reflecting his enduring legacy in English history and culture.
