Saint Clement of Ohrid
Saint Clement of Ohrid was a 9th-century scholar and one of the most important figures in the history of the Slavic peoples. He was a disciple of Saints Cyril and Methodius, who created the Glagolitic alphabet to help spread Christianity among the Slavs. Clement is credited with developing the Cyrillic alphabet, which is still used in many Slavic languages today.
Clement served as the first bishop of Ohrid and established a school for the education of clergy and laypeople. His efforts significantly contributed to the cultural and religious development of the Bulgarian and Macedonian regions, making him a key figure in the spread of literacy and Christianity in the Balkans.
