Saint Charbel Makhlouf
Saint Charbel Makhlouf was a Lebanese monk and hermit born on May 8, 1828, in the village of Bqaa Kafra. He joined the Maronite Order and dedicated his life to prayer and solitude. Charbel became known for his deep spirituality and commitment to the monastic life, living in a small hermitage near the Saint Maron Monastery in Annaya.
He passed away on December 24, 1898, and was canonized by Pope Paul VI in 1977. Saint Charbel is venerated for his miracles and healing powers, attracting many pilgrims to his shrine in Lebanon. His feast day is celebrated on July 24.
