Saint Blaise
Saint Blaise is a Christian martyr and the patron saint of throat ailments. He is believed to have lived in the 4th century in what is now modern-day Turkey. According to tradition, he was a physician and bishop who performed miracles, including healing a boy who was choking on a fish bone. His feast day is celebrated on February 3rd.
Saint Blaise is often depicted holding two crossed candles, symbolizing his connection to healing and protection. The Blessing of the Throats is a common practice on his feast day, where candles are used to invoke his intercession for those suffering from throat-related illnesses.
