Safety Lamp
A safety lamp is a type of lighting device designed to prevent explosions in hazardous environments, particularly in coal mines. It uses a protective mesh or glass enclosure to contain any flames, ensuring that flammable gases, like methane, do not ignite. The most famous example is the Davy lamp, invented by Sir Humphry Davy in 1815.
Safety lamps are crucial for miners, as they provide light while minimizing the risk of fire or explosion. These lamps are often portable and can be used in dark, confined spaces. Their design has evolved over time, but the primary goal remains the same: to enhance safety in dangerous working conditions.
