Sadiq al-Mahdi
Sadiq al-Mahdi was a prominent Sudanese political leader and religious figure, born on December 25, 1936. He served as the Prime Minister of Sudan during two separate terms, first from 1966 to 1967 and then from 1986 to 1989. Al-Mahdi was the leader of the Umma Party, a major political party in Sudan, and he was a descendant of the Mahdi, a significant figure in Sudanese history.
Throughout his life, Sadiq al-Mahdi advocated for democracy and social justice in Sudan. He faced various challenges, including military coups and political unrest. After being ousted in 1989, he lived in exile for several years before returning to Sudan. Al-Mahdi passed away on November 26, 2022, leaving a lasting impact on Sudanese politics and society.
