Sackcloth (Penitence)
Sackcloth is a coarse, rough fabric traditionally made from goat's hair or other coarse fibers. It has been used throughout history as a symbol of mourning, humility, and penitence. In many cultures, wearing sackcloth signifies a person's desire to express sorrow for their sins or misdeeds, often accompanied by fasting and prayer.
In religious contexts, such as in the Bible, individuals would don sackcloth to demonstrate their repentance and seek forgiveness from God. This practice is often associated with times of crisis or significant personal reflection, serving as a physical reminder of one's commitment to change and spiritual growth.
