Saaz (Instrument)
The Saaz is a traditional string instrument originating from the Indian subcontinent, primarily used in classical and folk music. It features a long neck and a pear-shaped body, typically made from wood. The instrument has a unique sound, characterized by its soft and melodic tones, which are produced by plucking the strings with the fingers or a plectrum.
Often associated with the music of Kashmir, the Saaz is an essential part of Sufi music and is used to accompany vocal performances. It is similar to the Sitar but has a more delicate sound, making it popular in various musical genres, including Indian classical music and Qawwali.
