SS Valencia
The SS Valencia was a passenger steamship that sank off the coast of Vancouver Island in January 1906. It was traveling from San Francisco to Seattle when it encountered a severe storm, leading to its tragic demise. The ship was carrying around 108 passengers and crew members at the time of the disaster.
The wreck of the SS Valencia is notable for the loss of life, with only 37 survivors rescued. The incident highlighted the dangers of maritime travel during that era and led to improvements in safety regulations for ships. The site of the wreck is now a popular dive location.
