S. A. Chandrasekhar
S. A. Chandrasekhar was an Indian-American astrophysicist known for his significant contributions to the understanding of stellar structure and evolution. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1983 for his work on the theory of black holes and the Chandrasekhar limit, which describes the maximum mass of a stable white dwarf star.
Born on October 19, 1910, in Lahore, India, Chandrasekhar pursued his education in physics at the University of Cambridge. He later became a professor at the University of Chicago, where he conducted much of his groundbreaking research. His work has had a lasting impact on the field of astrophysics.
