Sōryū Class
The Sōryū Class is a series of submarines used by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF). These submarines are known for their advanced stealth capabilities and are designed for anti-submarine warfare, intelligence gathering, and surveillance missions. The first submarine of this class, Sōryū, was commissioned in 2009.
Each Sōryū Class submarine is equipped with modern technology, including air-independent propulsion systems, which allow them to operate underwater for extended periods without surfacing. They can carry torpedoes and anti-ship missiles, making them versatile assets in maritime defense.
