Yūshio Class
The Yūshio Class is a series of submarines used by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. Introduced in the 1970s, these submarines were designed for anti-submarine warfare and intelligence gathering. They are known for their quiet operation and advanced sonar systems, making them effective in underwater combat.
The class consists of several submarines, with the first, Yūshio, launched in 1976. The Yūshio Class submarines are approximately 3,000 tons when submerged and can carry torpedoes and anti-ship missiles. They have been succeeded by more advanced classes, but they played a significant role in Japan's naval capabilities during their service.
