Rwenzori colobus monkey
The Rwenzori colobus monkey, also known as the Rwenzori black-and-white colobus, is a primate native to the mountainous regions of Uganda and Democratic Republic of the Congo. This species is characterized by its striking black and white fur, with a long, flowing tail that aids in balance as it navigates through the trees. They primarily inhabit montane forests and are known for their social behavior, living in groups called troops.
These monkeys are herbivorous, mainly feeding on leaves, fruits, and flowers. The Rwenzori colobus plays a crucial role in its ecosystem by aiding in seed dispersal. Unfortunately, their populations are threatened by habitat loss and hunting, making conservation efforts essential for their survival.
