Rwenzori black-and-white colobus
The Rwenzori black-and-white colobus, also known as Colobus guereza, is a species of monkey found in the mountainous regions of Rwenzori Mountains in Uganda and Democratic Republic of the Congo. This primate is characterized by its striking black and white fur, with long, flowing tails that help it navigate through the trees. They primarily inhabit tropical rainforests and are known for their social behavior, living in groups called troops.
These monkeys are herbivorous, mainly feeding on leaves, fruits, and flowers. The Rwenzori black-and-white colobus plays a crucial role in its ecosystem by aiding in seed dispersal. Unfortunately, their populations are threatened by habitat loss and hunting, making conservation efforts essential for their survival.
