Russell M. Nelson
Russell M. Nelson is an American religious leader and surgeon, born on September 9, 1924, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is best known as the 17th President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), a position he has held since January 2018. Before his church leadership, he had a successful career as a heart surgeon and was a pioneer in the field of cardiac surgery.
Nelson served in various leadership roles within the LDS Church, including as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles since 1984. He is recognized for his emphasis on personal revelation and the importance of faith in Jesus Christ. His leadership has focused on global outreach and strengthening families within the LDS Church.
