Rumspringa
Rumspringa is a term used in the Amish community to describe a period of adolescence, typically starting around age 16. During this time, young Amish individuals are allowed to explore the outside world and experience life beyond their strict religious upbringing. This period can last for several years and often includes social activities, dating, and sometimes experimenting with modern lifestyles.
The purpose of Rumspringa is to give young people the opportunity to make their own choices about faith and community. After this period, they must decide whether to commit to the Amish church and its values or leave the community for a different life.
