Royal Albatross
The Royal Albatross is a large seabird known for its impressive wingspan, which can reach up to 12 feet (3.6 meters). These birds are primarily found in the Southern Ocean and are famous for their ability to glide over the ocean for hours without flapping their wings. They feed mainly on fish and squid, using their keen eyesight to spot prey from the air.
Royal Albatrosses are monogamous and often mate for life, returning to the same breeding sites on remote islands, such as New Zealand's Campbell Island. Their populations are currently threatened by factors like fishing bycatch and habitat loss, making conservation efforts essential for their survival.
