Rosuvastatin
Rosuvastatin is a medication belonging to a class of drugs known as statins. It is primarily used to lower cholesterol levels in the blood, which can help reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke. By inhibiting an enzyme involved in cholesterol production in the liver, Rosuvastatin effectively decreases the amount of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, often referred to as "bad" cholesterol."
Patients taking Rosuvastatin may also experience an increase in high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, known as "good" cholesterol. It is usually prescribed alongside lifestyle changes, such as a healthy diet and regular exercise, to achieve optimal cardiovascular health. Regular monitoring of liver function and cholesterol levels is recommended during treatment.
