Roman military
The Roman military was a highly organized and disciplined force that played a crucial role in the expansion and protection of the Roman Empire. It consisted mainly of professional soldiers known as legionaries, who were trained to fight in formations and use various weapons, including swords and javelins. The military was divided into units called legions, each typically comprising around 5,000 men.
In addition to the legions, the Roman military included auxiliary troops, which were non-citizen soldiers who provided specialized skills, such as archery and cavalry. The military not only defended the empire's borders but also helped maintain order in conquered territories, contributing to the spread of Roman culture and governance.
