Roman Units
Roman units refer to the measurement systems used in ancient Rome, which included various units for length, area, and volume. The most common unit of length was the Roman foot (pes), which was approximately 11.65 inches. Other important units included the Roman mile (mille passus), equivalent to about 5,000 feet, and the Roman inch (uncia), which was one-twelfth of a foot.
In addition to length, the Romans had units for measuring land and capacity. The iugerum was a unit of area used for land measurement, roughly equivalent to 0.65 acres. For volume, the sextarius was a common unit, used for liquids and dry goods, equal to about 0.5 liters.
