Robert Stethem
Robert Stethem was a United States Navy diver born on July 17, 1961. He is best known for his tragic death during the hijacking of Trans World Airlines Flight 847 in 1985. Stethem was brutally murdered by the hijackers, which drew international attention to the issue of airline security and terrorism.
His sacrifice is remembered as a symbol of bravery and service. Following his death, the U.S. Navy honored him by naming a ship, the USS Stethem (DDG-63), after him. Stethem's legacy continues to inspire those in the military and beyond.
