Robert Stephenson
Robert Stephenson was a prominent British civil engineer and inventor, born on October 16, 1803. He was the son of the famous engineer George Stephenson, known as the "Father of Railways." Robert is best known for his work on the development of steam locomotives and railway systems, significantly contributing to the expansion of the railway network in the 19th century.
One of his most notable achievements is the design of the Locomotion No. 1, which was one of the first steam locomotives to run on a public railway. He also played a key role in constructing the Royal Border Bridge and the High Level Bridge in Newcastle, showcasing his expertise in bridge engineering and railway construction.
