Robert Katende
Robert Katende is a Ugandan chess player and coach, best known for his work in promoting chess among underprivileged children in Uganda. He gained international recognition for his role in the life of Phiona Mutesi, a young chess prodigy from the slums of Kampala, whose story was depicted in the book and film titled The Queen of Katwe.
Katende founded the Kampala Chess Club and has been instrumental in teaching chess as a tool for education and personal development. His efforts have helped many children improve their critical thinking skills and gain confidence, showcasing the positive impact of chess in their lives.
